Politics inside.

Went to early vote today. The line was out the door and around the block. Not what I expected for a year with insanely low enthusiasm. Apparently revulsion can be a driver of turnout.

Thought exercise: What happens if Clinton wins, the FBI recommends prosecution, and Obama issues a pardon? I cannot imagine a scenario that doesn’t involve violence.

85% sure at least some Trump supporters will riot if she wins, anyway. Both candidates are an embarrassment to our nation - just in different ways.

Turd sandwich vs douchebag has never been more pronounced than today.

As long as deplorables can’t find clay balls for their muskets, it’ll be ok.

Shhhhhhh...that’s okay, he’s still raising taxes on himself. lol I mean, that was basically one of the core policies of his campaign that Hillary adopted.

Yet, I have a feeling that it’ll be the first of her policies to go right out the window after the election. Taxing the rich/corporations means burning all of the Clintons’ bridges.

Also interesting is the question whether she could pardon herself? Your gut reaction might be “hells no” but the Constitution doesn’t say that. Article II, section 2 instead says that “The President ... shall have Power to Grant Reprieves and Pardons for Offences against the United States, except in Cases of Impeachment.” Thus, there are only two constitutional limitations on the President’s power to pardon — it is limited to federal crimes and it can’t be used to avoid impeachment. So yes, Hillary could pardon herself.

I don’t see impeachment not occuring in that situation.

Impeachment, per precedent, is limited to crimes/acts that occurred while in office, not prior to taking office. So it certainly is possible that the House can break with precedent and vote to impeach, and then the Senate do the same and have the trial, but that also would be a first (I believe).

Yeah, I don’t think precedent is going to matter at that point because there’s never been a president charged while in office. Technically, congress can impeach the president simply because they feel like it.

Hopefully that leads to impeachment of both Hillary and Kaine since he either had emails on the server or was mentioned in them in a tit-for-tat promising the VP pick if I remember right. Then whoever is left in charge can appoint That Guy and Whats-Her-Face that have a chance at winning Utah, since out of all of the available candidates they’re the only two that don’t completely suck.
